Introduction

Phondex ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected or shared. Last updated: April 2026.

Data the App Accesses

The app accesses local files on your device (images, PDFs, documents, etc.) solely to index and make them searchable. No files or data are ever transmitted to external servers.

How Data Is Processed

• All processing — OCR text extraction, face detection, image tagging — runs entirely on-device.
• The app does not require or use an internet connection.
• Indexing results are stored in a locally encrypted database (SQLCipher + Android Keystore).
• No data is shared with any third party, advertiser, or analytics service.

Permissions Required

• Read Files / Media — to scan and index files on your device.
• Notifications — to alert you when indexing completes or new files are found.
• Boot Completed — to resume scheduled background indexing after a device restart.

Data Retention

All indexed data is stored locally and can be deleted at any time from within the app (Settings → Full Re-index / Clear index). Uninstalling the app removes all stored data.

Children's Privacy

The app does not collect any personal data from any user, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected inside the app and on this page with an updated date.
